Character Counts!

Whether they are in the classroom or the school yard, Balboa scholars are encouraged daily to embrace and embody six pillars of character—​trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.  They pledge to be the best person they can be and strive to develop these core values as their foundation.  The school community at large also seeks to exemplify the character traits and model that character matters every day!

 

Trustworthiness is being honest, telling the truth, and looking for goodness in others.

 

Respect is being courteous and cooperative, appreciating and accepting all individuals regardless of individual differences, and treating others like you want to be treated.

 

Responsibility is carrying out your obligations and not giving up easily.

 

Fairness is playing by the rules, taking turns, listening, sharing, and being tolerant of others.

 

Caring is helping others, being kind, and showing generosity.

 

Citizenship is making your school and community a better place.
